1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Teen Fin handles information when you use the TeenFin app, website and support services. TeenFin is a financial learning platform currently offered in India. It is designed for users under 18 and users aged 18 and above.
Operator: Teen Fin, operating TeenFin in India.
Support and privacy enquiries: hello@teenfin.org
If you are under 18, please read this policy with your parent or lawful guardian. They can contact us about your information and consent.
2. Information used to provide TeenFin
- Account and sign-in information: your email address and the account credentials or sign-in identifiers needed for email/password or Google sign-in. Google supplies the account information you authorise it to share for sign-in. We do not receive your Google password.
- Age and consent: the age you provide, your age category, a parent or guardian’s email address where needed, and records of parental consent. We ask for age rather than date of birth.
- Learning records: account-linked progress through lessons, quiz and challenge results, virtual TeenFin Points, badges and other saved learning activity.
- Subscription records: the selected plan, access period, payment and subscription references, payment status, renewals, cancellations and refund correspondence. Razorpay processes payments and handles payment information under its own terms and privacy notice.
- Support correspondence: information you choose to include in messages, including requests about consent, payments or deletion.
- Usage information: Google Analytics can collect app interactions, device or browser details and identifiers, as explained below.
Do not email passwords, full payment card details, banking credentials or unnecessary identity documents.
3. Why information is used
Information is used to create and protect accounts, select the appropriate age flow, obtain and record parental consent, save learning progress, provide plan access, process billing enquiries, resolve problems and meet applicable legal obligations. Usage reports help us understand which features work and improve the learning experience.
Providing essential account information is necessary for account-based features. Where processing relies on consent, you or an authorised parent or guardian may withdraw that consent by contacting us. Withdrawal may mean that the affected feature or account can no longer be provided; it does not invalidate processing already lawfully carried out.
4. Children and parental consent
For users under 18, TeenFin requires parental or lawful guardian consent for the child’s participation and parental approval for paid subscriptions. The initial age and parent-email details are used to arrange the appropriate consent process. A child should not provide another person’s email without permission or enter a false age.
A parent or lawful guardian can ask about their child’s information, request corrections or deletion, or withdraw consent through hello@teenfin.org. We may need to verify the account and the adult’s authority before acting.
Children’s information must be handled in accordance with the restrictions that apply to it. Parental consent does not authorise tracking, monitoring, advertising or other processing prohibited by applicable law.
5. Google Analytics and local storage
TeenFin uses Google Analytics for usage measurement. Analytics may use random app-instance identifiers or browser cookies, together with events and device information, to distinguish visits or app installations. Random identifiers do not necessarily make information anonymous. This policy does not describe all analytics information as anonymous.
TeenFin does not display advertisements. Usage measurement is for understanding and improving the service, not for serving targeted advertising. The treatment of children’s usage information is subject to applicable child-data restrictions, even where parental consent has been given.
Browser storage may also remember website preferences or display choices. Your browser can clear or restrict cookies and local storage. Browser controls do not necessarily stop measurement inside the mobile app. Contact support to ask about analytics choices for your account; Google’s browser opt-out tool is not an app opt-out.
Read Google’s explanation of Analytics data and Google’s Privacy Policy.
7. Retention, security and deletion
Information is retained only for as long as needed for the purposes described here or a legitimate legal requirement. Relevant reasons include maintaining an active account, resolving an open dispute, preventing fraud and keeping required payment or accounting records. A closed account does not justify keeping all its information indefinitely.
To request account and associated-data deletion, follow the Account Deletion page or email hello@teenfin.org. On a verified request, information that no longer needs to be retained will be deleted or made no longer identifiable. Where identifiable records must be retained, we will explain the reason and the applicable period or basis for it in our response. Service-provider copies and backups may follow their deletion schedules rather than disappearing immediately.
Security measures should be appropriate to the information and risks involved. No app, website or email service can guarantee complete security. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
8. Requests, concerns and changes
You or an authorised guardian can contact hello@teenfin.org to ask about personal information, correct inaccurate details, withdraw consent, request deletion or raise a privacy concern. Please use the account email where possible and provide only the details needed to identify the request. Available statutory rights and response requirements depend on the laws in force when the request is made.
If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may use the complaint or legal remedies available under applicable Indian law. This policy does not restrict those remedies.
Future updates will carry a new version and date. Material changes will be communicated where required, and fresh consent will be sought where needed. A policy update does not itself replace consent required by law.
